Food for Thought: Your chance to meet the true professionals in the startup world!
When choosing to join the internship program at Flashstarts I knew that I would learn much more from people around me than from my own work. Food for Thought, a weekly event for interns and teams, has perfectly proven my assumption by allowing me to meet high-profile people who are successful in entrepreneurship.
At first, like many hungry college students, I focused more on the “food” part of it. However, after the first few events, the “thought” part actually caught my attention. Often I stopped eating in order to write down all the cool things I learned from them. I got the chance to listen to professionals from a variety of backgrounds: CEO of former portfolio companies, mentor, angel investor, branding agency…
Personally, I am very interested in building a sustainable startup, so the Food For Thought session by the well-known angel investor, Morris Wheeler, really impressed me. Usually, I am not a huge fan of presentations that go only one way from presenter to listener. But Morris didn’t fail me. He asked for questions and comments from interns right at the very beginning. Based off of his suggestions for building a successful startup, I can confidently say that he is really experienced and brought a lot of great insights. I thought high-profile investors like him were rarely open to random people, but he was willing to talk to everyone including “rookies” like us – the interns.
